IBS joins Dutch aerospace mission to the United Kingdom

2 minutes reading - published on February 4, 2026

From 19 to 22 January, IBS Precision Engineering took part in a Dutch aerospace fact-finding mission to the United Kingdom. Together with a group of innovative Dutch companies, we visited Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham to learn more about the UK aerospace sector and to explore opportunities for cooperation.

FFM26-GroupDuring the four-day programme, we visited leading organisations such as GKN Aerospace, the National Composite Centre, AerFin, the Wales MRO Hub and Collins Aerospace. We had open and valuable discussions about topics including composite structures, sustainable aviation, MRO activities, power and control systems, and future manufacturing plans. These visits showed the strong capabilities of the UK aerospace industry and the possibilities for working together internationally.
FFM26-NCC-AerFinFor IBS, this mission was an important step in aligning our current metrology and precision engineering roadmap to build forward on our aerospace and space applications such as our Rotary Inspector. The RI can expose dynamic errors during a synchronized 5-axis motion test of your machine and enables early detection and correction of dynamic Tool Centre Point (TCP) errors before any cutting occurs. This can come in extremely handy for aerospace components such as rotor blades wherein ultra-precision is required and costly materials like titanium or nickel alloys are used.

We discussed our solutions for ultra-precision manufacturing, as well as systems for testing and verification at sub-micron and nanometre level. The conversations confirmed that our proven expertise continues to fits well with the needs of the aerospace sector.

Henny Spaan, director of IBS Precision Engineering: ‘Our technology can measure down to the nanometre level, which has been very useful in the composite factory.’ – Financieël Dagblad.

FFM26-Presentation

We would like to thank NBSO Manchester, our hosts and the participating Dutch companies for the warm welcome and inspiring discussions. We look back on a successful week of learning, sharing knowledge and building new connections.
