After the first 18 months of these projects, a first round of evaluation took place. Therein, our LaserSatCom and SemiCon02 projects have shown excellent development and potential that they may now be continued. This is fantastic news for IBS and its project partners as it gives recognition to the wide experience and knowledge strength build so far.
Laser satellite communication (LaserSatCom) is a rapidly developing technology that uses laser beams to transmit data between satellites, ground stations, and other devices. Our role in the project is developing differential sensors that are used in Fine Steering Mirrors which can obtain nanometer resolution at high bandwidths while remaining small in size, weight and power consumption.
